PCAN-Explorer 5.1.3.676 Macro Error

Post by AKK13 » Tue 4. Aug 2026, 15:37

Hello. I am trying to run some old macros using PCAN-Explorer 5.1.3.676. When I try to run these scripts I am getting the error message shown in the image attached. I have determined this is related to the use of CreateObject(). While researching this issue online, I found that the release notes for PCAN-Explorer 5.4 mention a bug fix for "Running a VBS macro containing a CreateObject() statement caused an error message under Windows 10" (I am using Windows 11 and I believe Windows 7 or older was used back when the macros were created). Does this mean I will not be able to run these macros as is using my current version of PCAN-Explorer? Thank you.

Hello,

yes, please update to version 5.4 when using Windows 10. You will find the link to the latest version 5.4.3 on the startpage of PCAN-Explorer 5. Please note that PCAN-Explorer 5 is out of support since several years now. If you are not able to download the new version, please send an email to our info.peak[at]hms-networks.com email address with the license ID of your license.

regards

Michael
