As soon as you can connect PCAN-LIN CT with the PCAN-LIN, you should see the settings of the module. I am wondering why you need a gender changer, typically a USB2Serial module has a DSub male connector, which fits to the PCAN-LIN serial port.

I understand as I ordered what was believed to be a male FTDI cable but it showed up female. I will measure this now.

I made a direct gender converter to replace the flat adapter, and currently using a FTDI driver version 2.12.36.4. The only thing I am unsure about is how to check the device output to confirm RS232.

I have tried 38400, 19200, and 57600. The LIN device I am connection will need 500000 once connection is established. But still can't get the module to be confirmed. I changed the usb port baud rate to match as well.

I have not. I didn't realize it needed independent voltage apart from the laptop. This got my lights to power on via 12V, but now I am getting an error where both green lights come on, quickly go of, shows a red fault light, and turns off.
