Post by Ales1000 » Wed 24. Jun 2020, 15:28

Hello,

I would like to ask you, if it is possible to install pcan-view offline on Linux machine (from pcan_view.tar.gz or something like that)? I have Linux machine which cannot be connected to the internet.

Thank you for response.

Hello,

Just download the driver package from here:

http://www.peak-system.com/fileadmin/me ... 0.1.tar.gz

you could use a flash-drive to store the driver installation package and use it offline.

Best regards

Marvin

Hello Marvin,

I already installed driver from flash drive. I type "pcan" and press "tab tab" to see available commands, I see no pcan-view. I also have installed pcan-view on Virtual Box, but here, when I type "pcan" and then 2xtab, it shows me pcan-view option. Due to this behavior I expect, that "pcan-view" was not installed.

I install it this way:
tar -xvzf peak-linux-driver-8.10.1.tar.gz
cd peak-linux-driver-8.10.1
sudo make -j4
sudo make install

Should I add some special switches to install pcan-view too?

Thank you for response.

Hello Ales,

I am sorry, i mixed things up.

The driver package does not contain PCAN-View for Linux.

Pardon me.

Can you give me the output of:

Code: Select all

uname -a
?

I will then send you the appropiate files for your system to install PCAN-View offline.

Best Regards

Marvin

Hello Ales,

We unfortunately do not offer an RT version of PCAN-View,
In order to use PCAN-View you would need to use the "regular" PCAN-Linux driver
that was compiled for non-RT environments.

We can send you the .deb package that will work on the non-RT versions of the driver,
if you are interested!

Best Regards

Thank you.

Hello Ales,

Here is a comrpessed tarball that only contains the 32-bit executable

https://cavok.peak98.de/XnWdUgD

The screenshot below show you the shared libs pcanview needs,
Mainly libncurses and libpthread.

If you do not use any package repos you'll have to handle the dependencies yourself.

This package is provided as is, we did not test this on an environment like yours.

For further questions feel free to contact us again.

Best Regards

Marvin

Hello Marvin,

thank you for info. This worked well. I would have some questions.

Do you also have .deb package for installing, or it is only distributed as binary file?

Do you also have PCAN-view for OS: Linux blackbox 4.14.134-xenomai #1 ... 2019 x86_64 GNU/Linux?

Thank you.

Hello Ales,

This package only contains binary files.

If this other OS is also offline, you may want to give me output of:

Code: Select all

lsb_release -cs
If you other OS is an online one you can proceed like described on our Linux-Support Page in the scetion "How to install PCAN-View via repository":

http://www.peak-system.com/fileadmin/me ... /index.htm

Best Regards

Marvin
