our IT department is refusing to install the PCAN OEM driver v 4.2.0 because the digital certificate has expired.
Is there a new version with a valid certificate available?

Hello,
this is not a problem neither to install the driver nor to use it. The driver functionality doesn't change because of this. Please note two things:
this is not a problem neither to install the driver nor to use it. The driver functionality doesn't change because of this. Please note two things:
- This date refers to the certificate used to sign the driver, this is, its validity period in which one can use it to sign anything.
- At signing time, the certificate was in a valid period. This means, this driver is a signed, time-stamped package, which remains valid indefinitely.

Hi,
what an absurd requirement. The validity dates of the original certificate with which the device drivers were signed have absolute no meaning other than the actual signing process can only take place within that date range. The signed driver package does never "expire". Code signing certificates are not SSL certificates.

If not, they do their job not very good - as K.Wolf wrote - ..absurd... everyone who have a basic knowledge of certifications for device drivers should know this...I've sent your answer to the IT guys, I hope they accept this..
i close this thread before the rest of our driver developers start a discussion...
