I have a can-bus network with 8 devices on it. Some times 6 of the devices are powered off. During this the can bus status shows busy heavy. Using an oscilloscope I can see corruption of the CAN Hi and Lo signals. I loose communication ability to the 2 devices which are not switched off.
Is it possible to use the PCAN-Repeater to isolate the bus devices which are switched off from the ones that are not?
Bus Heavy with some devices switched off
Re: Bus Heavy with some devices switched off
Hi,
thanks for the info. Unfortunately a PCAN-Repeater will not help in that configuration, because it looks like those devices which are powered off will disturb the physical CAN layer, so the repaeter will tranfers those bad signals also from one to the other side.
A solution will be a PCAN-Router, which will not transfer bad signals from one to the other side, because there are 2 CAN-Controller inside.
best regards
Michael

Re: Bus Heavy with some devices switched off
I tried both the PCAN-Repeater and the PCAN-Router.
The PCAN-Repeater fails as you suggested.
The PCAN-Router works first time staight out of the box
Many thanks
