PCAN-Explorer 6: Copy Protection Key Not Found / Not Recognized

Post by M.Heidemann » Wed 11. Dec 2024, 14:55

If PCAN-Explorer 6 asks for a dongle that is already connected,
there are a few common issues that might be causing this, here is how you can resolve them:

1. Check the Dongle Light
The first thing to check is whether the light on the dongle is on.

If the light is off: This is typically related to an issue with AMD processors. We have a patch available that can resolve this issue.

If you’re affected, please reach out to us, and we'll provide you with the necessary patch.

You can reach us via support[at]peak-system.com

If the light is on: The issue may be caused by Logitech’s G-Hub software, which might be using the dongle and preventing PCAN-Explorer from accessing it. In this case, proceed to the next section.

2. Logitech G-Hub Interference

If the dongle light is on but PCAN-Explorer is still asking for a dongle, it’s possible that the latest update of Logitech G-Hub is responsible for this (G-Hub accesses the Dongle, preventing PE6 from finding it)

Here’s what you can do:

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.

Go to the "Services" tab and locate logi_lamparray_service:

Right-click on the service and select Stop.

After stopping the service, the dongle should be accessible to PCAN-Explorer as expected.

Make sure to suspend the service in case you want to make this change permanent.

3. Other Services Using the Dongle

If you don’t have Logitech software installed, or stopping the Logi_Lamparray_Service didn’t solve the issue, another service might be using the dongle.

Here’s how to check:

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).

Go to the "Processes" tab and look for any unfamiliar software or services that might be using the dongle.

Try stopping any services you find that could be blocking access to the dongle.

If you identify a conflicting service, stopping it should resolve the issue.

In this case we would appreciate your feedback to support[at]peak-system.com!
