A PCAN-LIN module not be confirmed

I faced with issue when I connect to PCAN-LIN by USB to serial port converter. On PCAN-LIN apply voltage. Module blinking. By PCAN-LIN CT I connect to PCAN-LIN and get error

With what it can be connected?

From this topic it becomes clear that. RS-232 need 12V Levels. Is it a prerequisite for a correct connection?

Hello,

yes you need a real RS232 COM port to connect to the PCAN-LIN. When using an USB2Serial device, please use one with FTDI chipset.

All FTDI chipsets have this electrical characteristics



The FTDI device can only accept 12V signal from PCAN-LIN, or more (Receiver input voltage range +-25V), but the output signal "Transmitter output voltage swing" = +-5V.
is this a sufficient level for the PCAN-LIN module?

Hi

a standard COM port has +/-12V signals. So if you use a FTDI chip with ttl output, you have to add a MAX232 level shifter to get the +/-12V signals for the COM port.
