WSL2: Using a PCAN-USB possible?

Post by Michael65589 » Fri 8. Mar 2024, 08:37

Hi,
has anyone managed to operate a PCAN-USB dongle with WSL2 ?

I installed USBIPD-WIN-Projekts to attach the dongle to WSL. It is listed when I use lsbub

(venv) mstahl@LM-STAHLM-WS:~/data/projekte/cantest$ lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0c72:000c PEAK System PCAN-USB
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
(venv) mstahl@LM-STAHLM-WS:~/data/projekte/cantest$ ./pcan-kernel-version.sh
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0c72:000c PEAK System PCAN-USB needs Linux 3.4
./pcan-kernel-version.sh: 123: lspci: not found

I read that WSL does not allow insmod.

Is there a way to use a CAN-Dongle with WSL2?

BTW: PEAK can´t guarantee the proper working, if it will work -> fine, if not -> bad luck and try a VM instead.
