AER errors in journal

Post by mbuijs » Thu 3. Jun 2021, 10:57

I have a PCAN-M.2 Single Channel (IPEH-004083) in an Intel NUC7i7DNBE that shows the following error in the journal:

Code: Select all

Jun 2 15:06:54 NUC7 kernel: [165382.171662] pcieport 0000:00:1d.0: AER: Multiple Corrected error received: 0000:00:1d.0
Jun 2 15:06:54 NUC7 kernel: [165382.171670] pcieport 0000:00:1d.0: AER: PCIe Bus Error: severity=Corrected, type=Physical Layer, (Receiver ID)
Jun 2 15:06:54 NUC7 kernel: [165382.171674] pcieport 0000:00:1d.0: AER: device [8086:9d18] error status/mask=00000001/00002000
Jun 2 15:06:54 NUC7 kernel: [165382.171677] pcieport 0000:00:1d.0: AER: [ 0] RxErr
From the output of lshw, I can see that it originates from the PCI Express controller that hosts the Peak adapter:

Code: Select all

For completeness, here's (part of) the output of lspci -vv:

As far as I know this error has not caused problems yet, but I still wonder what causes them and if something is wrong with my configuration.

Edit:
I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 with the following kernel:

Code: Select all

And the following configuration of can0:
