Maximum PCAN USB Pro FD in a PC

Post by Pikachu » Tue 26. Apr 2016, 11:17

Hi!

Just want to ask if there's a limit of number of PCAN USB Pro FD that can be plug in a Computer? Currently there are 5 hardwares connected in my PC, but there is one hardware that fails to communicate. Or is the capacity dependent on PC behavior? Can you recommend PC specification so I can communicate 10 units (5 hardwares) in one PC. Thanks

Hi,

the Windows CAN driver can handle up to 16 CAN channels, so up to 8 PCAN-USB-Pro FD should be possible. Please check your USB hub configuration, or use a powered USB hub when you have problems with 5 devices.

Do you see all devices in the windows device manager?

regards

Michael

Hi Michael,

Yes all of the hardware connected can be seen in windows device manager. Will try to use a powered usb hub as you recommend. Thanks, will let you know for any problems

Hi,

which software or API do you use for your tests? Did you test with PCAN-View 4.x?
