I am new to PCAN explorer so please forgive me. When I am viewing error frames in my trace, is this a function of PCAN explorer? Is it flagging the previous message as an error frame or are they actual broadcasted error messages on my bus?

search here in the forum for Error Frames and use the CAN Wiki to see why error frames are be generated.
Check your wires, termination etc. You found some more answers within this forum.
