CanApi2.dll, problem with new windows device drivers 3.x

Post by R.Beckers » Wed 4. May 2011, 13:24

Currently we are using the PCAN_USB driver 2.48.3.0 with our own tools using the CanApi2.dll 2.48.1.0. The old driver does not run on our new notebooks, so I installed the new driver PCAN_USB 3.6.3.9864. This driver works well on the new notebooks, but our tools does not. I tried the newer CanApi2.ddl 2.56.1.0, but it does also not work. I get always the error message: CAN_ERR_NOVXD. Which CanApi2.dll runs with PCAN_USB 3.6.3.9864 and how do I get it?

Hi,

when using the canapi2.dll interface, you have purchased a PCAN-Developer or PCAN-Evaluation package in the past. To let that system work with the latest drivers, you need an update of those software packages. Please send an email to support@peak-system.com with your serialnmuber of your software package. We will send you an update for your package than.

best regards

Michael

Are generally most of these Library/Software Messages free of charge? :)

Hello,

the most, yes, just not Canapi2.dll (officially called PCAN-API). The free version of our CAN API is called PCAN-Basic. Normally this is enough for most users. The Canapi2.dll (included within the product PCAN-Developer) is for people doing very complicated things.

PEAK-System has implemented several protocols on CAN, based on PCAN-Basic, for example ISO-TP, UDS, OBD2, CCP, and XCP. These are implemented as APIs too and they are for free. :D
Best regards,
Keneth
