Problem with two PCAN-PCI express on the same CAN bus

Hi everyone,
Given the architecture of a system I am developing I need to use two computers equipped with a PCAN-PCI express board on the same CAN bus.
The system is functional and I can communicate with my devices but sometimes I get some CAN error (bus heavy mostly) and I need to reset the system to get rid of those.
So my question is : Is it possible to use two PCAN-PCI express boards on the same CAN bus, or is it forbidden?

Thanks in advance,
Kind regards

Hi,

yes of course you can use several PCAN-PCI Express cards on the same CAN bus system, but please take care that it is not allowed to send the same CAN IDs from different CAN nodes at the same time. This will cause an arbitration crash on the CAN system.

Michael

Thanks a lot for the quick answer.

I'll check on other possible mistakes that could have been made.

Hi,

please check that you use a CAN cable with termination resistors on both ends.
