Typically, when viewing a recorded trace with an active symbol file, hovering over the "data" column of the trace window shows the signal values. For some reason, J1939 traces don't always work this way for me.
In the first attached screenshot, I have a J1939 connection configured, with a trace open. Notice none of the ID's from the Default J1939 database are applied.
If I attempt to activate the connection (no hardware is connected), I get the error shown in the second screenshot. Notice, however, that the ID's are now shown per the J1939 database. I would expect at this point that I could hover my mouse over the "Data" column, and view the signal values for each message, but it doesn't work that way.
I've seen this before, and with enough tinkering, I seem to be able to get it to work, but I don't think I am missing a setting. Or am I?
Sometimes J1939 signals don't show in DATA column of a trace
Re: Sometimes J1939 signals don't show in DATA column of a t
I also noticed if I right click on a message, and select "Inspect Variables", the window does indeed show the signal values. How do I get this to show up by hovering over the data column?
Re: Sometimes J1939 signals don't show in DATA column of a t
Changing the connection to the virtual adapter appears to fix this issue. But deactivating the virtual adapter still shows the signal values.

Hi,
first of all, what version of PCAN-Explorer 5 are you using?
