Hello,

I currently use PCAN Symbol Editor 3.2.1.364 to create and edit symbol files for PCAN Explorer 5.

Since I want to use the CAN symbols in Vector CANoe, too, I'd like to export the symbols into a dbc file. Is it possible to do this on windows command line?
I'd be able to automize this work instead of always opening the program, symbol file, click into menu export, dbc, choose dbc file and symbols to export and export it.
If not possible would you implement command line features in future?

unfortunately this option is not available with PCAN-Symboleditor at the moment. The import and export from/to dbc files must be done manually. There are also no plans to offer a command line feature in the near future.

OK, seems I have to accept it.

What about dbc-Nodes: When I export to a dbc file, the Vector Simulator needs some Nodes. It worries me when I have to create the nodes and its symbol assignments after every export again with Vector dbc++ editor.
Is there a possibility to include nodes or e.g. to update a exisiting dbc - file without overwriting further dbc settings (like existing node settings)?
When I only do little changes in sym file I've got a lot of work in candb++ editor that I want to avoid.

Hi,

a PCAN-Explorer symbol file only uses symbols,signals and enums from a dbc. Nodes are not part of a symbol file and will not be considered during the import/export. If you need the dbc nodes in your system, you should use a dbc editor which supports this feature, and import the dbc in PCAN-Explorer again after the change.

why should I import the dbc?
I only want to export the sym to dbc to be able to use the symbols in Vector Tools, too. Of course I know that sym-Editor doesn't handle nodes, but since the sym file is my reference I always want to start from that.

I just want to say that you should edit the dbc instead the symbole file, to be able to keep the nodes in your dbc.
