I am trying to install peak-linux-driver-8.10.2 on my Ubuntu 16.04 machine.
My kernel version : 4.4.38-tegra on Nvidia tx2 board.

I follow the offical documentation, installed the driver in this order :

• go to the driver folder
  make clean
  make
  sudo make install
  sudo modprobe pcan

After the installation completed, I check the output of cat /proc/pcan ;

and the output of the lspci does not contain anythin about Peak-can device.

What is the true way of installing the driver ?

Hello Ali,

thanks for the info. When the PCAN-miniPCIe card is not detected by lspci, it could also not be found by the driver. Please check that your miniPCIe slot of your mainboard has a real PCIe interface, and not only USB on PCIe. Our cards are real PCIe cards and not "USB on PCIe" based. The info about the miniPCIe slot should be available in the technical specs of your used mainboard.

So, output of the lspci must contain the peak device regardless of the driver is installed or not ? After the machine see the device by lspci, it is safe to install the driver. Am I right ?

I think the slot is real pcie slot.

Hi,

yes, correct. As soon as the card will be detected by lspci, it should also be visible in our driver.

Please contact the manufacturer of the board for more details about real PCIe. Our cards needs the 3,3V and also the 1,5V power supply on the miniPCIe slot. You should check this too with your board manufacturer.

Thanks four your concern.

As you can see here : , there are 3.3 V and 1.5V power supply goes to the Peak card. Admin: real link was removed - no extenal links allowed
And I tried different modules that connects to the elroy carrier module by PCIE, and they works, lspci see these devices.

I checked that physical connection, I cannot see anything wrong. Can you look at the manual that I gave in the first paragraph? I think the elroy board is compatible with the peak pcan card.

As Michael wrote - please contact the board supplier.
All our cards are tested under the norm of the PCISig consortium (where we are a members since many years) and will work as expected if the mainboard also work as descripeed in the PCISig norms.
one Tipp - see page 11 of the pdf - 2nd table - DIP Switch SW1A - set or not set ? detailed info on the page 17 - did you check this?

I tried with another board which is Nvidia Jetson TX2 Developer board and same problem again. system does not recognize the pcan device, lspci gives nothing.

I will check the DIP switch, but my other pcie cards work properly with my board. I think that, it is setted to pcie, but I will check.

simply use it on a mainboard that offers a real miniPCIe interface, or use a PCIe to miniPCIe passive board for an standard PC, to be sure the device is not defect!

Can you post a pinout of the pcan-miniPCIe FD. I will compare it pinout of my board.
