Hi,

has anyone tried to develop an application using the PCAN USB (FD) with C#/.NET Core on Linux?

As I understand it the PCAN Basic .NET Assembly is Windows only. And on Linux we have only a C++ lib. So I guess I would need to call the C++ lib from C# creating some kind of wrapper?

Any information on feasibility and stability of this approach is highly appreciated. It should be a reliable solution because it will run in an embedded application.

We already have a .NET Core Implementation for PCAN-Basic under development and will post it here in the Forum in the BETA Section within the next 1-2 weeks (Week 50/2020).
So you could download and test it . We have made several Tests on Windows and Linux but we need some feedback from the final users. It woulkd be great if you could support us, and also test the .NET Core package.

That's great news. We are planning to use it for a customer, so it would need to be stable in the foreseeable future. Do you think we could can have a production ready .NET Core implementation Feb/March 2021?

.NET Core has become our main platform for new customer projects. Starting greenfield projects with the old .NET Framework is a tough sell and inevitably inherits the cost of a migration to .NET Core later on.

During development we can surely use the beta-version and provide you with feedback. Thanks for letting us know!
