Upgrade FW from very old version 2.1.0

I wanted to upgrade my very old PCAN USB Pro FD with FW 2.1.0 with the PCAN-Flash 2.0 Tool.

But after selecting the device and setting it into USB Flash mode (the fast orange flashing LEDs) the device is not detected by PCAN-Flash (PCAN -> Connect) anymore.
Therefore the update of the MSD loader upgrade finds no target ...

I updated a PCAN USB FD with this method which has been detected as shown in the documentation.

Any idea how to upgrade from that very old version?

Hello,

to update such an older bootloader on a PCAN-USB-Pro FD, you can only use Windows 7 or Windows 8, Windows 10 is not supported. Please see info in the Firmware Update manual on page 5:

If you don't have such an older Windows OS, please contact us by email to arrange an update here at PEAK.

Michael

Hello Michael,

I very obviously need to improve my ability to READ :D

Let's see whether I can find a Win7/8 machine in my neighborhood. Of course I upgraded all my machines to Win10 when they were able to be upgraded ...

I still have a WinXP Notebook from 2004 - is WinXP with this https://www.peak-system.com/fileadmin/m ... _WinXP.zip driver capable to do the job?

Best regards,
Oliver

Hi,

no, those outdated drivers for XP don't support CAN-FD hardwares, they could only be used for CAN 2.0 hardware like PCAN-USB or PCAN-PCI cards.

Hello Michael,

I was able to get a Win7 machine, installed the drivers and went through the update process as described in the PDF.

Worked excellent!

Many thanks,
Oliver
