Upgrade of PCAN-USB firmware using PEAK-FLASH 3 fails

While updating my PEAK drivers and utilities to the latest versions while sorting out another issue I found I've found a problem with upgrading my PCAN-USB from 8.6.1 to 8.7.0 using PEAK-Flash 3 version 07/2025.
The Utility correctly identifies the PCAN-USB device and determines that it can be upgraded using its built-in firmware image for 8.7.0. Almost immediately after starting the flash process the procedure fails.
The PCAN-USB driver is version 4.6.4.16846.
I've attached some screen shots as a PDF.
Should I have set some links in the PCAN-USB?
Regards
John

Hi,
please start PEAK-Flash as administrator. On some systems, the standard user have no access to USB drives (MSD), which is used during the update process of the PCAN-USB.

Thanks Martin. Unfortunately that still fails. The error sequence is slightly different. It now says:
10:15:12 Beginning flash: PCAN-USB is flashed with the embedded firmware (8.7.0)
10:15:12 Searching for hardware in flash mode..
10:15:17 Error: An error occurred while writing the new firmware.
Beforehand there was an addition line before the Error message saying
hh:mm:ss Flashing the new firmware ...
this line wasn't shown on the latest attempt running in admin mode.

Hi,
please check with your IT if you are able to read/write to USB flash devices.

Hi Michael
Thank you for your help. We do have USB restrictions at work so this was almost certainly the issue.
I upgraded the device successfully at home rather than attempting to work with our IT dept.
