CANID Don't care filter

Post by jafriede » Tue 16. Aug 2022, 19:01

It would be nice to have the option in "Symbol Properties" to set bits as a don't care for receive.

I am using PCAN Explorer 6. Specifically in Tools->Symbol Editor

For example. In the screenshot below, it would be nice to mark certain bits in the CAN ID as "don't care"

Using the PCAN-Explorer, you could define own Filters inside the Project itself - not in the Symbol File.
Here you have many options.

Using a J1939 based network, where you definitally need to Mask the ID, there are special filter options like Prio, Source, Target, PGN.
The Filters also offer a "Exclude" Filter Option, to onvert the Filter.

So apparently the J1939 module is required to set up a filter like this. We are not interested in J1939 although it is a proprietary J1939 style protocol. Is there a less expensive add-on for people who don't need to parse J1939 PGN's but need the filtering capability?

The J1939 Protokoll Extension (Add-In) is need to setup J1939 Symbol Filters.
Also in the Symbol File you could use this Extension, and so save to use a Bit Filter:
