Hello All,
I have a new PCAN-USB Pro that if I run PCAN-View both channels appear and are selectable, however, when I run PCAN Explorer 5 none of the channels appear.
Any thoughts? I am sure there will be many details that will be required to answer the question, however, I am new enough to this hardware that I am not sure what to include.
thanks in advance!

Re: CAN-USB Pro not selectable in Explorer 5
I think have found more to my issue - I believe now after more resarch that I need to create a net for my hardware however when using PCAN Nets Configuraiton I see my PCAN-USB Pro however I am unable to add them to a net or to create a new net.
Any Thoughts?Re: CAN-USB Pro not selectable in Explorer 5
Hello cullen.hall,
Sometimes, during installation, user rights are miswritten, impeding in this way a normal user to do some changes as creating a net. We are investigating this issue. It would be helpful and kind of you if you could tell us what PCAN-Explorer version do you installed, which OS you are using and if it is 32 or 64 bit version.
yes, you are right. The PCAN-View allows to connect CAN nets and hardware as well. Since the PCAN-Explorer does more complicated things, it always needs to connect a net in order to use any hardware.cullen.hall wrote: I believe now after more resarch that I need to create a net for my hardware...
It seems to be a user-rights problem. Please start your PCAN-Net Configuration tool using Administrator rights, then you will be able to create the Net.cullen.hall wrote:... however when using PCAN Nets Configuraiton I see my PCAN-USB Pro however I am unable to add...

Hi,
thanks for the data. OK, just one more question. How did you install the PCAN-USB Pro? Did you use the setup file PCANUSBProSetup.exe (aka PCAN-USB Pro package)?

I cannont remember for sure, I downloaded the file you noted but then also had a CD included when I purchased the hardware that had the necessary files. If I had to guess which one I actually used I think I went with the CD files. Sorry about that.

Then this is the cause of your problemcullen.hall wrote:If I had to guess which one I actually used I think I went with the CD files

Not using the PCAN-USB Pro Setup application avoid the installation of other important components and settings. An "important component" example is the PLIN-Manager. No LIN communication is possible without this component (even when it's driver is installed). An "important setting" example is the registry set up (your issue).
To allow LIN communication and to avoid starting the PCAN-Net Config with elevated rights each time you need to create/modify a net, you could still run the PCANUSBProSetup.exe. It's not a problem that you already have installed the drivers since both installations can coexist within a system
