Settings (sample point, clock frekvency,..)

Hello,

We use this HW with SW DiagRA, but I didn't find more precise settings (for exapmle: clock frequency, sample point, ..) in driver. SW Diagra allows to set only CAN / CAN FD. Is there a way to set it up easily?

Please contact the Software company. These settings need to be done from the Software when the CAN FD Channel is initialized.

I contacted the Software company and after a few emails I wrote to them:

I don’t have much experience with CAN settings, but if I open PCAN-View (with Diagra), there is a grey option „Clock frequency=20Mhz“. When I just open PCAN-View (without Diagra) with the option „Clock frequency=20Mhz“, there are some error frames. When I change the option „Clock frequency=80Mhz“, no error occurs.

And they answered me:

We can’t know the clock frequency of the hardware. Peak should know the technical parameter (also the frequency) of his own products. For the correct settings please contact the customer of the interface

So do you know where is the problem?

Hi,

the PCAN-PCI Express FD card can be used with several clock frequencies for the bitrate settings. 20, 24, 30, 40, 60 and 80Mhz will be supported. Which frequency you need, is depending on your CAN FD bus system, and must be set by the application. So your application must initailize the PCAN hardware with the bitrate settings which are needed for your CAN FD bus system. We also offer a tool to calculate the bitrate settings for the nominal and data bitrate:
