I'm new to these tools so I'm not quite sure what to expect when installing them. I'm attempting to get a custom viewer working (Comtool_V3 from Enerdel), but first I thought I would try PCAN-View to make sure the hardware and drivers were all working together.
I'm installing on the following system;
Dell 2in1 with Intel m5-6Y57 @ 1.1GHz
64 bit OS
Windows 1903 Build 18362.535
I downloaded the latest PeakOemDrv.exe and ran it to install the drivers version 4.2.0.16376
After installing the drivers, I connect the Peak USB-CAN interface device IPEH-002022-234569 which enumerates in the device manager without any obvious warnings and the red LED lights steady.
When I check the PCAN-USB properties in the device manager, under Events, I get a warning:
device install requested
device not migrated
device configured (oem82.inf)
device started (PCAN-USB)
Device installed (can_usb.inf_amd64_04984d4104a2f5de for Device Instance ID USB\VID_0C72&PID_000C\5&2B97A4CE&0&9 with the following status: 0x0
For the 'device not migrated' warning, the information is:
Device USB\VID_0C72&PID_000C\5&2b97a4ce&0&9 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.
Last Device Instance Id: USB\VID_05E3&PID_0608\5&2b97a4ce&0&9
Class Guid: {36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000}
Location Path: PCIROOT(0)#PCI(1400)#USBROOT(0)#USB(9)
Migration Rank: 0xF000FFFFFFFF0023
Present: false
Status: 0xC0000719
When I start PCAN-View, it finds the interface and when I select it, the red LED begins to flash, so it appears that the driver is working. I haven't tried connecting to a vehicle CAN interface yet to find out if I can actually watch traffic.
Is this warning important, or just an artifact of installing the driver?

Re: PCAN_USB driver install "device not migrated...." warnin
We never saw somethink like this ! If you run PCAN-View and the LED flashes, the driver itself is loaded and communicate with the device. So i would ignore this warning and connect a CAN Node to the USB Interface (with an terminated cable) and test the real DATA Flow.

Re: PCAN_USB driver install "device not migrated...." warnin
I was able to finally try out the PCAN-view app and got the cabling straightened out (multiple DB9 to CAN connector mess). The red LED on the PCANUSB adapter began flashing rapidly and the trace tool showed me frames, once I discovered the proper baud rate for my vehicle. Looks like the 'device not migrated' warning is not fatal:)
