VirtualBox Linux guest not seeing can0
VirtualBox Linux guest not seeing can0
I am new to Linux, am trying to utilize an existing application that uses the PCAN-USB adapter. The application is in CentOs running as guest on Windows host platform on VirtualBox 5.20. Do I need to install Windows drivers to "pass thru" the USB connection as CAN to the guest OS so the udev picks it up and sees a /dev/can? Or is this something that building/loading the Peak Linux drivers (and rebuilding) in the guest Linux system will do? Was looking for some concrete steps to take. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
there is no need to install the windows drivers, if you want to use the PCAN-USB in the Linux VM. Please check with lsusb if the PCAN-USB is correctly recognized in the VM system. If not, please update your VirtualBox to latest version 6.x first.
