Good morning everybody,
I'm completely new to all of this so forgive me if I ask silly questions. I would like to know if I can my peak dongle and pcan explorer 5 to tackle following problem.
We have trucks (reachstackers) with a J1939 Can bus system. On this trucks is an attachment (to pick up containers) and this has a can controller that is also used to control the work lights on this attachment. The output on this controller that controls the lights often breaks and this results in not being able to turn on the lights anymore. It is a non repairable controller (dipped in epoxy) so this makes it a very expensive repair because we need to replace the controller.
Is is possible to use the pcan explorer software to identify the can message that is put on the bus when I press the "attachment light on" button. When I know this message then we would like to use this to control a separate I/0 board that could switch the lights on the attachment on and off.
I hope somebody here can put me in the right direction.
Greetings, Vincent

Hello
yes, this should be possible when you are able to identify the J1939 message which will switch on the light. Does your PCAN-Explorer 5 license has the J1939 Add-In activated?
regards
Michael
