Pcan_usb.sys not loaded

Post by Patiphan » Thu 20. Feb 2025, 13:37

Now I'm facing an issue with using the PCAN USB Pro on my laptop, which is running Windows 11.
Whenever I connect the PCAN USB Pro to the laptop, a blue screen appears, as shown in the image below
Image

I have installed the driver, but after doing so, I encountered the error 'Pcan_usb.sys not loaded'
and the blue screen still appears when connecting the PCAN USB Pro.
I also tried on Windows 10 laptop no any issue like this PCAN USB can be use normally.
Could you please advise me on how to resolve this issue?

Hello,

This could be related to your firmware being outdated,
please check with PEAK-Flash if you can upgrade:

https://www.peak-system.com/fileadmin/m ... -Flash.zip

Make sure to use the "locally connected devices" option.

Does this resolve the issue?

Alright,

Run the driver setup again and reboot:

https://www.peak-system.com/quick/DrvSetup

check if the drivers are properly loaded.

The fact that they say "not Loaded" is an indication that somethings not quite right.

Hello,
i've had similar problem with drivers "not loaded".
Main problem was that I wanted to install all features (LIN, etc) which PeakOemDrv.exe offers, not just default ones (PCAN usb drivers and PCAN view).
This messed up my pc with win 11 that it was resetting whenever i plug in PEAK CAN USB Pro in any USB port.

Solution
Remove all drivers and run PeakOemDrv.exe again, but do it in following order:
1. Uninstall PEAK sw (add or remove programs windows app)
2. In device manager, change view so hidden devices are shown (Device manager -> View -> Show hidden devices) and remove (uninstall) everything related to PEAK CAN USB pro (most have "pcan" in its name).
3. reset PC
4. In device manager, change view to view devices by drivers (Device manager -> View -> device by drivers) and remove (uninstall) everything related to PEAK CAN USB pro (most have "pcan" in its name).
Perform removal by doing right click on entry and then "Remove driver" and select both options (uninstall + "remove even if used").
5. reset pc again
6. run PeakOemDrv.exe and install only default features.

NOTE: run "msinfo" (System information) app from windows and go to Software environment -> System drivers, this is helpful to check what drivers are installed and where.

After these steps in this order, i solved my problem.
Maybe source of problem is not same as in original post, but proposed solution can be tried.

Hi

when using an older PCAN-USB Pro (non FD), please update to the latest driver version 4.6.1, where we have fixed a problem regarding a BSOD with PCAN-USB Pro:
