Hello,
In a symbol file, I want to create mutiplexers for a received message whose the lenght of each multiplexer can vary (I use the J1939 add-in and multipacket messages).
But it seems that it is not possible, because the checkbox "Valid for all Data lengths" is grey and cannot be checked when multiplexers are used. So, I have to set a length for each multiplexer, but when the message is received by PCAN Explorer, the symbol I have created is not used, since it has not the good length.
Why this is not possible to use variable data length with mulitplexers ?
Is this planned in a future version of PCAN Explorer or is there another way to solve my problem ?
Thanks
Create mutiplexer valid for all data lengths
Re: Create mutiplexer valid for all data lengths
Hi,
I cannot tell why the variable data length option was not also added for use with J1939 and multiplexers.
We have included the feature now, it will be available in the next PCAN-Explorer release v5.3.3.
Regards

Hello,
Ok, thanks for your reply. Do you have an estimated date for the release of this new version ?

Re: Create mutiplexer valid for all data lengths
Hello,
I have installed the new version 5.3.3, but it does not resolve the problem It is still not possible to select the option "Valid for all Data Lengths" when using multiplexers in a symbol (the checkbox is grey) : Moreover, there is now a problem when selecting this option for a simple message (without multiplexers) : the same message received several times does not increment the count column, but is displayed as a new entry each times (in the screen below, TimeDate message has its box "Valid for All Data Lenghts checked) If I removed the "Valid For All Data Lenghts" option, the message is well received in the list as a single entry with the count value incrementing.
Thanks.

Re: Create mutiplexer valid for all data lengths
Hi,
OK, I can reproduce this behaviour. We will fix that as soon as possible.
We can send you a fixed .EXE before the next release if you write an E-mail to support@peak-system.com and submit your PCAN-Explorer License ID.
Although the Symbol Editor does not allow to select the "Valid for all Data Lengths" option, you could activate the option manually in the symbols file by deleting or commenting out the DLC parameter of your multiplexer, which is basically the same as what setting this option does.
