Trying to get PCAN-PC/104 to work in SBC with Windows 7

Post by ckeydel » Wed 10. Dec 2014, 00:47

I am trying to integrate the PCAN-PC/104 (dual-channel, isolated version) into an Advantech SBC running Windows 7 (x86).

I am running the card in factory configuration and have reserved IRQs 10 and 5 in the BIOS. In Device Manager I see that no other device uses these IRQs. APIC is disabled in the BIOS and no devices use IRQs>15.

In PCAN-View I can add either channel without error and I can send any CAN message correctly exactly ONCE. Any successive attempt increases the transmission count in PCAN-View and there is no error, but the message simply is not going out. I cannot receive messages. If I reset the interface I can again send one single message. I can repeat this forever.

All drivers and software are fresh from the PEAK website and the Windows 7 installation is also fresh, i.e. nothing else is installed that didn't come with the system.

Anything I can try to get this to work?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

looks like an IRQ problem. Please set both IRQs of the card to the same value to have a shared IRQ. Please check that no other device is using the configured IRQ (please post IRQ settings of the devicemanager - ressources by type)

regards

Michael
