Hi,
I am using PCAN-View with PEAK USB and I am very satisfied with its performance and stability. The PCAN-View user interface is friendly and easy to use.
I would like to suggest two additional features for consideration by the PCAN-View development team.
1. PCAN-View transmit message list ordering.
At the moment PCAN-View allows sending individual or group of messages manually by simply selecting them and pressing the space key (this feature is in addition to the automatic sending via scheduling). I found this feature very useful. Unfortunately the list of messages is always automatically sorted by the GUI, starting with the message with the lowest CAN ID. This makes it impossible to send a list of messages, randomly ordered, in one shot. It is often required to use such ordering to simulate real CAN networks.
Would it be possible to disable or make optional the message list sorting?
2. PCAN-View receive message filter configuration.
When PCAN-View is started, “Message filter” dialog allows the CAN ID range to be selected. Would it be possible to improve the filter flexibility by having more than one range or using bitwise masks to include, exclude and compare individual CAN massage ID bits.
Thanks and regards,
Vlad

Re: PCAN-View transmit message list ordering and more ...
Hello,
thank you for the feedback.
1. The Transmit List in the PCAN-View is not for sending CAN sequenzes in predifend order. (see Thread: Transmitting messages in required order). This could be better done by a simpel software using the PCAN-Basic API or by using the PCAN-Trace Software from PEAK.
2. We will discuss this with our development Team what´s possible.
The PCAN-Explorer 4 & 5 could open differnet filter types, like CAN From - To (Std and Ext. ID), Message Types, CAN Controlelr Code/Mask filter, Symbols and PGN (if the J1939 AddIn is available)

Very nice suggestions vlad. having filtering flexibility for different ranges to include CAN massage IDs, would help a lot.Vlad wrote:Hi,

Any update with development team if this can be achieved ?

Re: PCAN-View transmit message list ordering and more ...
The latest Version of PCAN-View could sort the Transmit List -simpy click the colum you want to use for sorting -for Example ID or Comment. The Comment used as sort order is very usefull if you want a custom specific order in the Transmit List! - Simply use the Comment to place a text start with A, B, C, D etc. or 1,2,3 etc.
You also could use "no order", then the list is shown as it listed in the transmit file (*.xmt).
If you need this feature you need to delete the registry key XmtSortColumn and XmtSortDescending in the path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\PEAK-System\PCAN-View\4.0
(be carefull - change the Registry could end up in a nightmare if you don´t know exactly what you do)
You always come back by selecting a colum - then you will be asked if you want use this feature again.(Keys in the registry will then created again)
The Filter functionality is available in the PCAN-Explorer 5 and 6 with a lot of features - feel free to ask for a 30 day Trial - send a request with you used part number to our Support. In the PCAN-View we did not plan any new filter features for the next versions.
