Post by carlo.romeo » Mon 17. Jul 2017, 10:46

Hi,
I m confused which is the limit off the CF card to use.
In the documentation it is 2 GB mentioned , but there are trace files to use in the folder "Empty Trace Files" => 4 GB.

thnx

you are right - if you use a standard CF and format it - max size is 2GByte. If you use a 4GB CF you need to format with the double sector size. Than you could also use a 4GByte CF card.

Is CAN record capacity doubled when using 4 GB CF card compared to 2 GB CF card? Or does this solution only make it possible to use larger cards in the device?

This is depending on the traffic. The Device itself need to store from time to time some information - if there is traffic or not. Every entry need a sector - and so use a complete sector for this minimum information (rest of sector is empty). If there is traffic on the bus and the sector is completly used by CAN Data, then YES, the size is doubled.

Use a Tool that could format the unit and where you are able to manualy select the cluster / sector size.
Could be found on the WEB - please google it - we do not offer any link to download pages.
New Windows Systems could do this by their own when Format a Partition.
