PCAN USB PRO FD and Windows 10

Post by mdanski » Wed 23. Jan 2019, 14:01

Hello,
I have written application which flashes device via CAN interface. I am using PCAN UDS library. On two computers with Windows 7 everything works fine when using single PCAN-USB or FD version. However on Windows 10 application works correctly only with single PCAN-USB. Application is written in C# on x64 architecture. When using PCAN USB PRO FD flashes process stops after couple of frames.

I am quite confused why application may not work exactly on windows 10 and FD device. What can cause this problem between two models or how can I diagnose it?

Hi,

which driver version do you use on Windows 10? Which firmware version does the PCAN-USB-Pro FD have?

regards

Hi,

as a first step, please update the firmware to the latest version 3.2. You can download the files and manuals for the firmware update in the firmware folder of our product CD:

https://www.peak-system.com/produktcd/

To upgrade the bootloader of the PCAN-USB-Pro FD, you need to use a Windows 7 system. See firmware update manual for more details:

I downloaded, run and now I see that device is not FD. I was sure it is FD. It is just "PCAN USB Pro". PCAN-Flash says that this device is not supported. Is there another tool for this type of device?

Hi,

whats the color of the housing? Black or silver? If it is the older PCAN-USB-Pro in a silver housing, you are already use the latest firmware version. There are no known issues with that device under Windows 10. Please check your wiring for correct termination resistors on both ends.

best regards

Hi,

housing is silver. It's good to know that's latest firmware and there are no known issues under windows. It seems it might be problem with wiring. Thank you for suggestion, I will check it soon.

The Version with the Silver Housing is the older "PCAN-USB Pro" - no firmware update needed - System is up to date.
