PCAN USB Pro FD Driver Breaks Motherboard USB
I'm unable to install the PCAN USB Pro FD device. The latest installation package from your website runs just fine and completes but when plugging in the device the driver install fails. The driver package also breaks the USB on my PC Motherboard. I have to select an older driver in Device Manager to get my PC USB working again.

Re: PCAN USB Pro FD Driver Breaks Motherboard USB
Hi,
when using the latest driver setup with driver version 4.1, and your Windows doesn´t have the latest Microsoft updates installed, please have a look on the following topic:
http://www.peak-system.com/forum/viewto ... 120&t=1809
Never heard about an issue that an installation of a PCAN-USB-Pro FD breaks an USB driver. Using a chipset driver for USB3.0 from 2001 could cause other problems, so try to update your USB chipset driver again to a newer version. There are known problems with USB3 drivers from 2011:

I updated the USB drivers to current. My USB still breaks after running the Peak Installation and rebooting and the PCAN USB Pro device will still not start.

Is the correct driver being loaded? This looks like my PCAN Wireless Gateway driver

Hi,
yes, 4.1.0 is the latest driver version with sha-256 signature.
Sure you have the latest Microsoft updates installed? If not, please uninstall 4.1, and use 4.0.18 as written above (see link)
regards

Re: PCAN USB Pro FD Driver Breaks Motherboard USB
Every possible Microsoft update is installed. I uninstalled 4.1.0 and installed 4.0.18 and there is no change. I am currently back to 4.1.0 and the PCAN USB Pro FD device still will not start.
Re: PCAN USB Pro FD Driver Breaks Motherboard USB
Hi,
can you please use a powered USB hub, and test again. Will this happen on all available USB ports on that specific PC? Does the PCAN-USB-Pro FD work on an other PC, to be sure it is not a hardware problem of the device.
Next step will be to contact us by email (use the support email address), to arrange a teamviewer session, to check your system.

Re: PCAN USB Pro FD Driver Breaks Motherboard USB
Michael,
It appears that the device is defective. We've tried installing on two other machines here.
Unfortunately on a cold boot of my PC I have to manually load my USB drivers and reboot. That problem seemed to crop up after installing the ProFD driver package.
What is the procedure to obtain a replacement device?
Thanks for your help Michael.

Hi,
are these other machines different kind of PCs, and not the same PC type as the one with the problem?
If you think it is defective, please contact the supplier where you have purchased the product, or send us an email with the serialnumber of the device, to check where this device was purchased.
best regards

Re: PCAN USB Pro FD Driver Breaks Motherboard USB
Michael,
I tried again on a machine with a different processor, main board, etc. and it won't install there either so yes, I believe the device is defective.
I realize now that this was purchased from a local vendor and I will contact them. Thanks for your help.
