PCAN Router Not detectable

Post by gparks » Mon 2. Jul 2018, 19:32

Cannot seem to find any way to get my computer to detect the PCAN Router. Using detect module I cannot find it under PCAN-View, PPCAN-Editor, and if connected to a CAN network there is no bus traffic coming through it, no LEDs flashing.

If I switch the terminated DSUB connector from the PCAN-router to my PCAN-Router pro, it detects fine, so I do not believe it to be any termination issue or PCAN-USB issue.

I have had this working before, however have not played with it much as I have been using the PCAN-Router Pro mostly. Any advice on getting my computer to detect the PCAN-Router?

To note, when connected the Bus status instantly goes from "Ok" to BUSHEAVY

Hi, the PCAN-Router need to be set to Boot Mode - see manual - otherwise it will NOT be detected by the flash tools. Please read manual- page 22+

I appreciate the quick response. I am a little confused by the wording in the manual. I am supposed to have pins 6 and 9 bridged when I plug the router in? If so that would require making a special Dsub connector for this application with the pins bridged, or am I wrong and there is an easier way to do that?

Establish a connection between “Boot CAN1” and “+Ub1” or
“+Ub” at the connectors of the PCAN-Router.
How you do it is up to you...

I built a connector day that has pins 6 and 9 bridged together, along with the CAN Hi and CAN Lo, with proper 120ohm termination, and am still unable to get the PCAN-USB tool to detect. Still becomes bus heavy the second I try to detect modules. Am I missing something? Is the software in the device possibly bad?
