PCAN USB and PCAN USB PRO FD coexist

Post by MinusMyX » Sat 29. Feb 2020, 03:43

Can I use both PCAN USB and PCAN USB PRO (FD) in the same computer?

Either PCAN-USB or PCAN-USB PRO FD works fine on the same computer (Win 7, 64bit) but I was unable to make any one work when both drivers are installed.

Thanks.

Eric

Hello,

yes you can. The pcan_usb device driver allows up to 64 PEAK USB devices, no matter which models you are using. Note that both devices you mentioned, PCAN-USB and PCAN-USB PRO FD, work with the same device driver (so you have only one driver installed and working, not two).

From the point of view of the driver, there is no reason for this to happen. It is possible a malfunction on the PC side. Check that:
  • the USB ports of your PC are working well.
  • you are not using the devices connected to a USB hub, unless it is a self-powered USB-Hub.
  • Check that your BIOS is up to date, since USB3.0 (check this post for more information)
Best regards,
Keneth
