Hi,
I got a PCAN Router Pro and want to configure it. I am using PCAN-USB Pro (https://www.peak-system.com/PCAN-USB-Pr ... .html?&L=1) to connect to PC.
My questions are regarding the physical connections between the devices and will appreciate any help.
1. How many CAN channels do I need to connect? USB device has 2 and router has 4.
2. Since both devices have male DB-9 connectors, do I just make cables of one-to-one connections with 2 female connectors?
3. Do I need to change internal switch positions or any jumper settings?
4. Is the CF card provided only used for configuration or needs to be inserted at all times?
Thanks

Re: PCAN Router Pro: Configuration using PCAN-USB Pro
Hello,
First of all take a look athe the user manual here:
https://www.peak-system.com/produktcd/P ... an_eng.pdf
Please take a look in the user manual (page 10) to see the pin-layout.
Information on this can be found in the user manual starting at page 43.
If you just want to use PPCAN-Editor to configure your PCAN Router Pro this is not necessary.
See page 56 of the user manual to see how this is used.
Best Regards
Marvin

For the configuration you only need one active CAN-connection at the first CAN-Channel (CAN1) of the PCAN-Router Pro to one channel of your PCAN-USB Pro. For the PCAN-USB PRO it is not important which of the two channels is used, as long as you specify the right one at configuration.1. How many CAN channels do I need to connect? Yes, exactly , don't forget to add proper termination. Alternatively use termination adapters with unterminated cable (This is more flexible).2. Since both devices have male DB-9 connectors, do I just make cables of one-to-one connections with 2 female connectors?

This can be the case if you want to flash your own firmware and need to activate the bootloader of the PCAN-Router Pro.3. Do I need to change internal switch positions or any jumper settings?

The CF-card is not required. You can use it as storage for logs.4. Is the CF card provided only used for configuration or needs to be inserted at all times?
See page 56 of the user manual to see how this is used.
Best Regards
Marvin
