Re: CAN FD Between PCAN-USB FD and PCAN-USB Pro FD
Hi Marvin,
My apologies for breaking any rules of this forum.
I appreciate all your support on this Marvin.
I performed the measurements as discussed in the link viewtopic.php?f=120&t=52 on both adapters and all measurements were 2.47V +/- 0.01V. So, well within the limits, I think. I also tried the settings you posted, but no luck. A shorter cable definitely improves performance, but it's too short to be practical.
Thx,
Pete

Re: CAN FD Between PCAN-USB FD and PCAN-USB Pro FD
Hello,
Can you provide us with a screenshot of the hardware-tab of pcanview for both devices?:
Furthermore, is there any equipment nearby that may causes EMI?
Have you tested in another enviroment yet?
Please let us know.
Best Regards
Marvin

Hi Marvin,
I have turned off everything I can (including the lights) except the PCANView computer. Still no joy.

Hi Pete, i think it is a wrong timing setup. Lets try this values on both Devices and check if it works:
Please use the latest Version of PCAN-View (part of the Setup or download from the Support page)
Check that the tool loaded the latest pre-defined Values (normally it update the datbase by itself)
Use the Recommended CiA1301 Values Pair-03 (1MBit/5 Mit) with the 80Mhz core
That setup works fine with >80% Busload and mixed Message Types with a 2 Meter CAN cable

I downloaded the latest PCANView 5.0.1.822 using your link. However, I do not see the "CiA 1301" option in the bit rate preset.
Thx,
Pete

Re: CAN FD Between PCAN-USB FD and PCAN-USB Pro FD
Very good, the results have improved markedly. 5 and 8 Mbps are now possible and reliable even using the IPEK-003000 cable.
The secret seems to be dividing the "nominal" bits into more quanta. With a nominal TSEG1 < 10 (80% sample point), the receiver tends to detect quite few stuff errors. However, if I increase the nominal TSEG1 >= 15 the errors go away.
Thank you very much for the help.

Re: CAN FD Between PCAN-USB FD and PCAN-USB Pro FD
you are welcome - CAN-FD Bit Timing is a mirical and compared to the "easy" timing of a CAN 2.0a/b Network very difficult to setup.
The Network Topolgy is one of the main thinks that influence the maxumum Data Bitrate in CAN FD.
