PCAN-USB opto-decoupled Devices in the can network stop communicating

Post by arizawilmer » Mon 5. Feb 2024, 12:06

We are encountering an issue with the PCAN-USB connection. The USB is linked to 40 CANopen motors. During the middle of a process, the communication unexpectedly drops, and there is no reported failure. The heartbeat signals from all 40 motors cease without any apparent reason. Simply closing and reopening the software does not resolve the issue. The only effective solution is to physically disconnect the USB, which restores the heartbeat signals.

Our system is composed of a USB2 hub connected to two PCAN-USB each connected to 40 motors. We have use this previously but, on this system, we are having problems.

Any help is welcome

Hi,

do you use an own application? If yes, which API is used (please post dll and driver version). As a test, please connect PCAN-View to the same hardware and check what kind of errors are displayed in that moment. Will the "Reset" in PCAN-View resolve the issue than?

We use the motor manufacturer API that use the attached DLL. ** removed by Admin - please do not post outdated files **
For the moment I can provide the dll.

Hi,

this file is from the year 2012! Please update to the latest version of PCANBasic API. You can download the latest version from our support website. Than test again and do the steps as written in my previous post.

HI,

We updated the dll file and drivers. The system work ok for a couple of days. After that we have the error again. We have latest driver, latest firmware and latest dll file. I try to reset from peak view but nothing happened. after uninstall device and re-scaned we got communication back.

Hi,

please send an email to our support email address with a photo of the used PCAN-USB module showing the serial number sticker. Next, please remove the USB hub and use the PCAN-USB directly on the USB ports of your PC.

Michael
