Unable to see msgs being received: 2 interfaces back to back
Hi - I'm having basically the same problem as was described here:
https://www.peak-system.com/forum/viewt ... f=7&t=2348
i.e. 2 brand new interfaces, cabled together using pins 2,3 & 7, with 4 270 Ohm resistors in parallel slugged across CAN high & low in the middle of 10cm long piece of untwisted ribbon cable to allow me to use 9 pins IDC connectors, crimped onto the cable. The cable is short enough that I wouldn't have thought that I need to terminate it at each end.
I'm running 2 instances of PCAN view & I've set the ID's to something other than the default FF for each interface. I can transmit (i.e .the transmit counter is incrementing each time that I hit the space bar), but nothing appears in the received window at the other end. I don't have a scope handy never mind differential probe - I haven't checked whats on the bus yet. The Red leds are on solidly, and I did install the drivers off the CD before inserting the USB plugs into my laptop. I'm not using any cable extensions or going through an unpowered hub.
PCANview seems intent on showing me 2 copies of the same interface, so perhaps I just need to figure out how to tell the 2 apart?

Hi,
the PCAN-View in the picture shows "not connected" in the status bar. Please select a real CAN channel to be able to transmit and receive CAN messages with the hardware.
regards
Michael

Re: Unable to see msgs being received: 2 interfaces back to
#1: Opened one PCAN view for device FD.
#2: Despite trying picking device FE, another PCAN view is opened for FD, so when I try to connect on #1, I get this error.
What am I doing wrong? The PCAN-USB tab seems to let me change the device ID on the hardware, but not change which device the instance of PCAN view is attached to.

Hi,
please goto the menu of PCAN-View and select CAN->Connect, to connect the different PCAN-View instances with different hardware channels.
If the problem still exists, please contact us by email to arrange a teamviewer session on your system.

I tried that already and couldn't get PCAN view to use the other interface even though I selected it. So I'll email you with a view to sharing my desktop on Monday morning (I'm on a train just now so I can't plug the hardware in).

Problem should be solved - we send to the customer a step by step tutorial
So it should work now - no feedback until now...
but no feed back in the world of supporters means "it is working.."

Re: Unable to see msgs being received: 2 interfaces back to
The problem still exists - I read that instructions but I still couldn't see how to set the 2 instances to different hardware addresses - when I select the 2nd devices address, it just reverts to the first one.
I'm just getting my desk setup for remote working - will be in touch shortly. Can you please email me a phone number or Skype ID, or instructions for how you want to see my desktop?
