Website hangs while loading, has time-outs or is very slow

Description: While going to another page, the website gets dark and the loading circle appears. After that nothing happens. If you reload the page via the key [F5] or you reload everything (even the cached content) with [F5]+[Strg] opens the last page again. If you do the same like before, it works mostly. You can find this problem on several websites regardless of the PCAN-Gateway.

Reason: The reason is a function of the antivirus software Avira Professional Security. The feature browser protection (German: Browser-Schutz) checks the traffic of your browser and seems to prevent the proper execution of some pages. The problem mentioned could be solved by switching this function off. This accelerated the loading of the PCAN-Gateway website and of other common pages too.

How to temporary switch the browser protection off:

Via the tray icon of Avira (at the bottom on the right in the task bar) you can deactivate this function. It will be restarted with the next reboot or if you switch it on manually. Here a screenshot of a German version on Windows 8.1.

How to switch the browser protection of forever:
Via a right click on the tray icon of Avira you can open a entry like Configure Avira Professional Security (German: Avira Professional Security konfigurieren). A window appears.

You can deactivate the feature via Internet Security > Browser Protection.
It is also possible never to install this feature, if you do a custom installation and yes it is also possible, that this bug will be fixed in the future.

The free version of this antivirus software does not have this problem because the browser protection feature is not included.

Update:

Since an update of Avira, regardless of the fact that the browser protection was switched off the service is still running and causing trouble with the website.

To counter that, you only have to uninstall Avira and install ist without the browser protection. This was to only way to really switch it off.
